A well-structured human resources system supports staff and management to be successful in their work and reach their potential.
It's best for ECE centres to implement a great human resources systems before beginning to appoint staff. This helps centres know what staff they will need, and write quality recruitment ads and job descriptions.
The Ministry of Education’s Licensing Criteria for Early Childhood Education and Care Centres 2008 includes GMA7, a standard that requires:
- implementation of suitable human resource management practices
- a system for regular individual development planning and professional growth cycles
- provisions for mentoring.
